Wickenburg Ranch
A master planned community, Rummel was selected to carry out over two dozen projects of various scopes and sizes since 2007. Spread out over 14 years—and still ongoing—work performed includes grading, paving, riprap, basins, utilities, channels, SWPPP, golf course construction and maintenance, and roadways (turn lanes, roundabouts, parking lots).
Eloy Airport Improvements
With construction started in Fall 2020, this 8-month long project will be carried out in 16 phases. By the end of this process, Rummel would have completely demolished an existing taxiway and reconstructed a new taxiway alignment approximately 300FT away that meets FAA standards. Drainage issues on the northern side of the airport will be resolved with the installation of a new channel and culvert. Expected at the project’s completion is 55,000CY excavated and exported; 7,500TN of asphalt; 10,500TN of ABC; 950LF of RGRC; and 244LF of double barrel box culverts. Rummel is leading these efforts, along with overseeing the subcontracted full taxiway electrical reconstruction and new chain link security fencing along the property’s eastern side.
Sonoqui Wash Channelization Phase IIB Ellsworth Road to Crismon Road
Rummel constructed four consecutive phases of the Sonoqui Wash Improvements Project, that totaled seven miles, reduced potential flooding, and allowed Riggs Road to extend east. This project—the final phase—was a one-mile extension of the Sonoqui Wash Channel from Ellsworth Road to Crismon Road. There, the channel bends and ends until area developments are complete. The channel was lined with buried stone riprap protection, and has natural slopes topped with hydroseed to soften the ground for equestrian riders. Overall, the scope included grading, gabions, rock mulch, decomposed granite, lime-treated base, asphalt paving, outlet protection, RGRCP storm drainage, CLSM drop structures, concrete cutoff walls, box culverts, and a bridge. The land covered during the multi-phased improvements stretched across several jurisdictions: MCDOT, Town of Gilbert, and Town of Queen Creek.
Hermosa Mine
This project was built on 450 AC of private mining claims located south of Patagonia, AZ, 9 miles north of the Mexican border. We constructed a geomembrane lined Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) at the site known as Trench Camp, designed to permanently store four historic tailing piles. The project also included a surface water management infrastructure, entailing a water treatment plant, perimeter diversion channel, underdrain collection pond, storm water detention ponds, and access roads.
Saint Solar
Saint Solar was a large-scale utility energy project that lasted 12 months. Carried out in one phase, the scope was to grade and construct a drainage system for the 800AC site. The largest task of the project was grading the solar array area. Additional scope included retention basins, drainage culverts, substation pad, gen-tie pad, crushed stone aggregate, paved driveways, several new roadways, and a chip-sealed access road. Rummel self-performed 95% of the work.
