The Secret To Powerful Energy Projects: Precon to Completion

Whether it’s laying down foundations for solar projects or prepping a site for a substation, energy sector projects come with unique requirements. If you’re planning on producing new energy infrastructure, you need a contractor who knows how to tackle it — from dirt work to final touches.

At Rummel Construction, we’re heavy civil experts with a specialty in grading and excavation. We’ve spent years in the energy market, and we’ve learned that a well-prepared site is key to any project’s success. We offer in-house preconstruction and construction management services to maximize operational efficiency.

Preconstruction: Getting it right from the start

Preconstruction is where the magic begins. We don’t just show up and start grading — we take the time to understand your project’s scope, challenges and timelines. Our team dives deep into site analysis, permits and environmental considerations, making sure we’re prepared to tackle any challenges that come up along the way.

Some key services we provide during this phase:

Site preparation: Laying the groundwork

Once the preconstruction phase is wrapped up and permits are in hand, it’s time to move dirt. As a high-performance turnkey infrastructure contractor, our average self-performance rate is 90% — limiting risk and accelerating schedules. We make sure the site is ready for whatever comes next.

That includes:

Construction: The final stretch

Once the site work is set, we’re ready to hand the site off so the next phase can begin. We don’t disappear when the grading’s done — we stay involved to ensure everything’s in place and any last-minute adjustments are taken care of. In remote areas, creating access roads is critical. We don’t just grade the land; we come back to finish the roads we started during site prep. Our crews can go through red-rope training for any post-energization work needed.
